Dak Prescott says he's not in a hurry to receive a long-term extension with the Dallas Cowboys. Despite having a conversation with owner Jerry Jones last month, formal negotiations between Prescott and the Cowboys have yet to start.

"I'm focused on here, right now where I am," Prescott said last week. "That's how I've always been. Anytime y'all have asked me, it's always been about right now, getting better tomorrow. And I've been in this situation before, so it's OK. I'm fine in any situation at that point, betting on myself or playing this year out."

Prescott is in the last year of a four-year contract worth $160 million, which he signed in 2021. This year, he's slated to count $55.4 million against the salary cap. After this season, the Cowboys won't be able to use the franchise tag on him. Prescott also holds a no-trade clause.

For the immediate future, it's a safe bet that Prescott will be ready to lead the Cowboys and put up big numbers in 2024. He remains an excellent fantasy player at DFS sites that cover all of the major sports and offer a variety of fantasy games.

Yet, Prescott has had a topsy-turvy relationship with the Cowboys and their fans. That has opened up the possibility that this could be his last year in Dallas.

"I love this game and love to play and love to better myself as a player and my teammates around me," says Prescott. "Right now, it's with the Dallas Cowboys. It's where I want to be, and that's where I am, and that's the focus. And after this season we'll see where we're at and if the future holds that ... and then if not, we'll go from there."
