Trea Turner To Miss Up To Six Weeks Due To Injury

The Philadelphia Phillies' lineup has been dealt a significant blow with the injury of shortstop Trea Turner. He is now on the injured list, having suffered a strained hamstring during a game against the San Francisco Giants. This setback will undoubtedly test the resilience of the Phillies' rotation.

Turner’s injury, sustained during a passed ball, is severe. He told reporters during a post-game press conference that he is expected to be out of action for up to six weeks. If his recovery goes as planned, we could see him back in the game by late June.

In 33 games for the Phillies this season, Turner is hitting .343/.392/.460 with two home runs and nine RBIs. Unfortunately, his latest injury will drastically affect his playing time. Turner has been an integral part of the Phillies’ league-best record early in the 2024 MLB season.

Except for the COVID-shortened 2020 season, Turner has played at least 122 games from 2018 to 2023.

Edmundo Sosa will likely take Turner’s spot at shortstop while he recovers from injury. Bryson Stott could give Sosa a breather even if he hasn’t played the position in two years. Meanwhile, the Phillies elevated infielder Kody Clemens from Triple-A to their Major League Baseball roster.

Clemens is the son of seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens, and they acquired him via a January 2023 trade wherein they gave up Gregory Soto.
