Marcell Ozuna Leads MLB in Home Runs

Gunnar Henderson, Kyle Tucker, Shohei Ohtani, and Marcell Ozuna were all tied with 11 home runs each. However, the Atlanta Braves designated hitter broke the tie by connecting on his 12th homer in their game against the Boston Red Sox.

Ozuna drove Nick Pivetta’s pitch to left-center field in the bottom of the third inning. That solo home run extended the Braves lead to 5-0, earning his 38th RBI. His home run established the final score, giving them a two-game sweep against the Red Sox.

That strike improves his batting average to .315 and his slugging percentage to .646. Ozuna has 40 hits (including six doubles) in 127 at-bats.

More importantly, that victory keeps them within striking distance of the Philadelphia Phillies for the National League East lead. The Braves are 22-12, two games behind the Phillies.

After their two-game schedule against the Red Sox, Atlanta will start a three-game series against the New York Mets on the road before a six-game home stand against the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres.
