Kevin Pillar Joins 100 HR/100 SB Club

Los Angeles Angels right fielder Kevin Pillar is having a fantastic start to the 2024 Major League Baseball season, hitting .328/.385/1.006. However, regarding personal milestones, he completed his 100th career stolen base on May 15 against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Pillar achieved the feat in the bottom of the first inning after hitting a ground ball single off pitcher Lance Lynn. His first hit of the day drove Willie Calhoun home for a 3-0 count. However, he didn't stop there, as he stole second base (his fourth of the year) and reached third after a Logan O'Hoppe flyout.

Lynn's wild pitch allowed Pillar to safely cross home plate, extending the Angels lead to 4-0. The damage has been done as the Cardinals scored only two runs the entire game. Meanwhile, Los Angeles added three runs in the sixth and seventh innings for a 7-2 final tally.

This victory ends the Angels' three-game losing streak against the Royals and the Cardinals. The Angels will try to make it two in a row when they start a three-game series on the road against the defending World Series champions, the Texas Rangers.

Before that game, Pillar's last stolen base happened on May 11 against the Kansas City Royals. He has two stolen bases in May and two in April.

Conversely, Pillar earned home run number 100 against the Cardinals on May 13. He connected on a two-run blast in the bottom of the third inning against Matthew Liberatore. That home run is Pillar's fourth this season and third in May.

In addition to getting 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases, Pillar is two hits away from 1,000 career hits and two away from 500 career runs.
