Earlier in the season, it looked like the Los Angeles Dodgers would coast to their 22nd National League West title. However, the tables suddenly turned as they suffered a five-game losing streak, their longest skid since April 2019.
Following their loss in the last two games of a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Los Angeles Dodgers were swept by the Cincinnati Reds in a three-game series on the road. The Reds' dominance was evident in the first game, where they scored nine runs, led by Jonathan India (three hits, four RBIs) and Spencer Steer (three RBIs, two runs), while the Dodgers managed six runs.

The Dodgers scored one run each in their next two games, courtesy of Will Smith and Shohei Ohtani. In those two games, the Dodgers had ten hits in 62 at-bats.
Despite the slump, the Dodgers are still 11 games above .500 (33-22) and 5.5 games in front of the San Diego Padres for the NL West lead. They have the second-best record in the NL, behind the Philadelphia Phillies.
The Dodgers will try to restore their groove when they face the New York Mets in a three-game road series. To close out May, they will start their home series against the Colorado Rockies.
