Right-handed pitcher Cristian Javier has won three of his seven starts, earning a 3.89 ERA and a 1.413 WHIP. However, his campaign has hit a wall after the Houston Astros placed him on the 15-day injury list due to right arm discomfort.
Astros manager Joe Espada revealed Javier's injury when the Dominican pitcher did not participate during his scheduled bullpen session.

With Javier on the IL, the Astros recalled Alex Speas from Triple-A Sugar Land. Conversely, Houston optioned Joey Loperfido to Triple-A while recalling Jose Abreu.
