Jose Ramirez, David Fry Leading the Guardians to Early Success

The Cleveland Guardians have the best record in the American League Central and the third-best record in Major League Baseball. Left fielder David Fry and third baseman Jose Ramirez have significantly contributed to their success, especially this month.

In 19 games played this month, Fry is hitting .396/.529/.755 with six home runs and three stolen bases. He had five multiple-hit games, including two three-hit games. He had three hits in as many at-bats during their May 17 game against the Minnesota Twins. Eleven days later, he had three hits in five at-bats in a road game versus the Colorado Rockies.

With one game left for the Guardians this month, Fry has 22 hits and 15 RBIs in 57 at-bats. He earned 41 total bases and 18 runs. These numbers elevated his season averages to .353/.485/1.093 with seven home runs and 24 RBIs.

Meanwhile, Ramirez is hitting .296/.375/.704 with 11 home runs and seven doubles in 26 games this month. He had three hits in three instances: May 7 against the Detroit Lions, May 13 against the Texas Rangers, and May 18 versus the Twins.

Ramirez has 30 hits in 102 at-bats. The Dominican hitter collected 71 total bases and 23 runs while getting struck out only 12 times. His solid hitting improved his averages to .271/.326/.883 with 16 home runs and 56 RBIs.

Fry and Ramirez can close the month on a strong note when they start their three-game series against the Washington Nationals on May 31.
