49ers Sign Logan Thomas to One-Year Deal

The San Francisco 49ers added depth to their tight end rotation by signing veteran Logan Thomas to a one-year deal. The exact terms of the agreement remain undisclosed.

The Niners will be the sixth NFL team Thomas will suit up for. The Arizona Cardinals selected him in the fourth round of the 2014 draft. However, he was listed as a quarterback during the draft, making him the sixth quarterback chosen.

However, he lasted only one season with the Cardinals before joining the Miami Dolphins. During the 2016 season, he joined the New York Giants but did not make it to the active roster. He tried his luck by switching to tight end with the Detroit Lions but was limited to the practice squad.

Thomas got his break at tight end with the Buffalo Bills, spending three seasons with the squad. After this, he played with the Lions during the 2019 season. A year later, he joined Washington and lasted with the Redskins/Football Team/Commanders for four seasons.

Thomas has 219 receptions for 2,002 yards and 16 touchdowns in 94 career games. He also has 124 passing yards and a passing touchdown.

The former Virginia Tech standout signed with the Niners three months after the Commanders released him. He will join a rotation with First Team All-Pro George Kittle, Cameron Latu, and Eric Saubert.
