Max Fried Completes Rec0rd-Setting Victory Over Red Sox

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Max Fried never had a winning percentage below .667 since 2019. He had three double-digit winning seasons over that stretch, including consecutive 14-game winning seasons in 2021 and 2022.

Barring any injury, the veteran pitcher is on his way to another double-digit winning season after earning his sixth win in 12 starts. He earned the victory in historic fashion after dominating the Boston Red Sox.

In seven innings, Fried surrendered four hits and two earned runs. However, he finished the day with a career-high 13 strikeouts, the most by a National League pitcher at Fenway Park. His dominant day helped the Braves secure an 8-3 victory, improving their record to 34-24.

Fried's performance improved his record to 6-2 with a 2.93 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 73.2 innings. He has 67 strikeouts, 13 away from his 2023 total. Fried has one shutout and a league-leading two complete games.

The Braves need a monumental stretch to catch up with the Philadelphia Phillies for the NL East lead. However, as it stands, they have one of the Wild Card spots with 108 games left.

Meanwhile, Fried's impressive start to the 2024 Major League Baseball season has him on track for an individual award. He has three Gold Glove Awards, a Silver Slugger Award, and an All-Star appearance.
