San Diego Padres right fielder Fernando Tatis Jr. found his swing, leading to the longest active hitting streak in Major League Baseball as of June 10, 2024.
Tatis extends his streak to 16 games after connecting on his third home run in four games. It was his only hit in five at-bats against the Oakland Athletics. In the first 15 games, he had 25 hits, eight extra-base hits, and a .410 batting average.
His hitting streak started on May 25, the second game of their three-day series against the New York Yankees. Coincidentally, his lone hit that night was a home run.

Since then, he had six multiple-hit games, including a perfect 4-for-4 on June 5 versus the Los Angeles Angels. He also had three-hit games against the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Kansas City Royals.
Those hits improved his season numbers to .280/.356/.829 with 77 hits, 13 home runs, and 35 RBIs in 275 at-bats throughout an MLB-leading 70 games. Tatis has 12 doubles and one triple for the season.
But despite his making contact with the ball, it’s not enough to deliver more victories for the Padres, as they had an 8-8 record during those games.
While they are a distant second to the Los Angeles Dodgers in their division, they are still in contention for a Wild Card spot. Tatis will try to extend his hitting streak during their second game against the Athletics on June 11 at 9:40 p.m. Eastern Time.
