A week ago, the New York Mets had a 28-37 record after losing the opener of their three-game series against the Miami Marlins. But after that loss, McDonald’s mascot Grimace appeared for the ceremonial pitch for the team’s June 13. The team hasn’t lost since, racking six consecutive victories spanning three series.
They closed out the Marlins series with a 13-6 advantage in the last two games. The Mets swept the San Diego Padres at home and won their series opener against the defending World Series champions, the Texas Rangers, 14-2.

It’s not just they’ve found their groove. Instead, they have dominated their last two games, posting 25 runs in the previous two games. The Mets pounded the Rangers to submission in their latest game, scoring seven runs in the first two innings.
Pete Alonso opened the scoring barrage with a single that drove J.D. Martinez home. Alonso, Francisco Lindor, and Brandon Nimmo connected on singles that stretched their lead to 4-0. However, DJ Stewart connected on a three-run home run to give New York the first seven runs.
Though Robbie Grossman connected on a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning, that’s all the Rangers could muster. They couldn’t stop the Mets from improving their record to 34-37.
In addition to the Mets’ massive scoring, David Peterson had six strikeouts in six innings to earn his third victory this season. The Mets can extend their win streak to seven if they can defeat the Rangers again on the road during their June 19 showdown.
