Kyle Bradish of the Baltimore Orioles and Patrick Sandoval of the Los Angeles Angels will undergo Tommy John surgery. Orioles general manager Mike Elias confirmed the news on Bradish, while Sandoval shared it with the media.
Bradish last took the mound on June 14 against the Philadelphia Phillies but left after five innings due to elbow discomfort. It has been an injury-plagued year for Bradish as he made his 2024 season debut in May following an ulnar collateral ligament sprain in January.
Meanwhile, Dr. Keith Meister performed the Tommy John operation on Bradish, who had an internal brace installed to support his UCL during the procedure. Bradish will end his 2024 campaign after eight games, tallying a 2-0 record with a 2.42 ERA, 28 strikeouts, and a 0.62 WHIP.

Bradish adds to the woes of the Orioles pitching staff. John Means and Felix Bautista underwent Tommy John surgery, while Tyler Wells had UCL repair surgery.
Conversely, Sandoval suffered a high-grade flexor tear and a UCL tear. He called out the attention of the Angels dugout as he was pitching to Shohei Ohtani during his June 21 start against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Sandoval’s season ends after 16 games, tallying a 2-8 record and a 5.08 ERA. He surrendered 85 hits, 35 walks, and eight home runs. He also leads the American League with six wild pitches. While it will be Sandoval’s first Tommy John surgery, he might be out of action until 2026 due to the severity of his injury.
