Bryce Harper Leads NL Players in MLB All-Star Voting

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper leads all National League players in the 2024 Major League Baseball All-Star voting. After garnering over 3.2 million votes, he will share the NL starting rotation with eight other players at various positions.

In addition to his eighth All-Star selection, Harper earned his 1,600th career hit during their June 27 game against the Miami Marlins. It was his only hit out of five at-bats.

The two-time NL Most Valuable Player has a fantastic run through 76 games, hitting .303/.399/.582 with 20 home runs and 58 RBIs. The three-time Silver Slugger Award winner has 20 doubles in 287 at-bats. Those solid numbers had him finish less than 200,000 votes behind overall top vote-getter Aaron Judge.

More importantly, Harper's effort has helped the Philadelphia Phillies secure the National League's best record halfway through the season.

With Harper's spot in the NL All-Star Team settled, the other spots will undergo another voting phase. Six of Harper's teammates are still on the list of finalists for this year's team. Trea Turner is up against Mookie Betts at shortstop, while Alec Bohm is competing with Manny Machado for third base.

J.T. Realmuto is a finalist as a pitcher with William Contreras, while Kyle Schwarber will try to win more votes than Shohei Ohtani as a designated hitter. Brandon Marsh and Nick Castellanos aim for outfielder positions against Jurickson Profar, Christian Yelich, Teoscar Hernandez, and Fernando Tatis Jr.
