Wyatt Langford is having a solid rookie season with the Texas Rangers, hitting .260/.322/.712. While playing in Major League Baseball alone is an achievement, it became more memorable for him after hitting a cycle against the Baltimore Orioles.
Langford started with a line-drive triple in the top of the fourth inning. In the top of the fifth inning, he connected on a double that drove Adolis Garcia across home plate and extended their lead by four, 6-2. In the top of the sixth inning, he registered a single that Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson fielded.
Finally, he completed the cycle after hitting a three-run home run off a 1-0 pitch by Matt Krook. Sending the ball to the left-field stands stretched the defending World Series champions’ lead to 11-2. Langford finished the game with four hits in five at-bats, four RBIs, and ten total bases.

He became the first Rangers rookie to hit a cycle since 1985 and the first-ever MLB player to achieve the feat on Sunday Night Baseball. It’s also the first cycle in the 2024 MLB season.
His performance against the Orioles gave him 30 hits, six doubles, three triples, three home runs, and 22 RBIs for June. He hit .309/.368/.526 for the month, significantly better numbers than his performances in April and May.
More importantly, Langford’s performance helped the Rangers avoid a sweep against the Orioles and end a six-game losing streak spanning their series against the Orioles and the Milwaukee Brewers.
