Yankees Slump Continues After Reds Series Sweep

The New York Yankees looked invisible at one point this season, posting a 50-22 record by June 14. They are looking to dominate their American League opposition, but in an unfortunate twist, they are suddenly struggling to register wins. Worst yet, they suffered a sweep in their three-game home series against the Cincinnati Reds.

To highlight how terrible they've been, the Reds are still three games under .500 despite that three-game winning streak. Trent Grisham's appalling lack of effort in fielding a ball summarizes their chances in their latest defeat against Cincinnati.

In the Yankees' defense, they were in the thick of things during the first two games. They couldn't seal the deal as Cincinnati earned 5-4 and 2-3 victories. However, after those three losses and dropping 14 of their last 19 games, the Yankees are 54-35. While it's still a relatively good spot, they are two games behind the Baltimore Orioles in the American League East.

Juan Soto's absence might have affected their offense. Unfortunately, the timetable for his return remains uncertain. However, Aaron Judge remains a bright spark for the Yankees after being named American League Player of the Month for June. However, he would need more help to drive in runs and end the slump they are currently dealing with.
