Question
Only once in the Super Bowl era have two quarterbacks started a game against each other, then later gone on to become NFL head coaches. It was a notable game (someone notable – not a playoff game, and both teams were winless) when they played against each other way back when. Who are these guys? They both went on to coach the same NFL team (but without much success).
Answer
Jim Zorn and Steve Spurrier. They were the starting quarterbacks for the expansion Seahawks and Buccaneers in 1976. Those teams met in Week 6, with Seattle winning the “Expansion Bowl” 13-10 for their first-ever win. Both later spent two years as head coaches with Washington (with each finishing with a 12-20 record).
