WR Courtland Sutton Signs Restructured Contract with Broncos

After a solid 2023 season, Courtland Sutton earned the rewards of his hard work by signing a restructured contract with the Denver Broncos. The new deal could earn him up to $15.2 million this season. That amount includes incentives of up to $1.5 million.

Sutton had a career-high ten touchdowns in 772 receiving yards last season. It's a substantial increase in his production, considering he had 14 touchdowns in his first five seasons. Therefore, his 2023 production alone makes his four-year, $60.8 million contract extension a good investment.

The wideout from SMU demanded a pay increase by skipping voluntary off-season activities. Meanwhile, the Broncos made this no-brainer move to reward their top pass-catcher. The restructured contract also comes one year before Sutton's contract with the Broncos expires.

The Broncos will expect more from Courtland Sutton this season after they've traded Jerry Jeudy to the Cleveland Browns. He will lead the Broncos receiving corps featuring Marvin Mims Jr., Josh Reynolds, Tim Patrick, and rookie Troy Franklin.

However, while Sutton got additional financial security, his starting quarterback remained uncertain because head coach Sean Payton was using training camp to settle the competition between Jarrett Stidham, Zach Wilson, and Bo Nix.
