ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted that Los Angeles Rams offensive guard Jonah Jackson won’t participate throughout the preseason due to a bruised scapula. That injury had his left arm in a sling during training camp.
However, Jackson won't be out long because the Rams envision him returning to action before Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season. The Rams will face the Detroit Lions, Jackson's former team, in the season opener, a rematch of their Wild Card Round showdown last year.
The offensive lineman from Rutgers and Ohio State has been durable during his first two NFL seasons, missing only one regular-season game. However, his latest injury raises concern regarding his health, especially after he missed nine regular-season games in 2022 and 2023.

The Lions selected Jackson in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. However, despite earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2021, Detroit allowed him to walk away after his rookie-scale contract ended. The Rams did not waste time securing Jackson's services, signing him to a three-year, $51 million contract early in the 2024 offseason.
That contract includes $34 million in guaranteed money and a $4.25 million signing bonus. Jackson will get a three-year base salary of $26 million and roster bonuses of up to $20.75 million.
