Who are the only two coaches to tie for the Coach of the Year award? Their teams at the time were in the same division, each going 11-1-2 in this particular season (that is, 11 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties). Both are now in the Hall of Fame.
Answer
George Allen and Don Shula, in 1967. At the time, the Los Angeles Rams and Baltimore Colts were both in the “Coastal” Division of the Western Conference. (Despite tying for the best record in the league, the Colts did not make the playoffs that year (the Packers beat the Rams in the playoffs, going on to win Super Bowl II against the Raiders).
