While Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson have two NFL Most Valuable Player awards each, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback has a better career (so far). As of the 2023 season, Mahomes has won four out of five matches against Jackson. The three-time Super Bowl winner can make it 5-1 if they defeat the Baltimore Ravens during the 2024 NFL season opener.
Mahomes’ only loss against Jackson came in Week 2 of the 2021 season when the Chiefs lost by one point on the road. Despite that defeat, the Chiefs had a better season than the Ravens because Jackson missed the last five regular-season games due to an ankle injury. Meanwhile, the Chiefs lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC Championship Game.
Coincidentally, Mahomes' last victory over Jackson came in the 2023 AFC title game at Baltimore. The Chiefs held the Ravens to ten points en route to their third Super Bowl title in five seasons. The Chiefs also defeated the Ravens on the road during their 2020 Week 3 encounter.

Mahomes’ first two victories against Jackson occurred at Arrowhead Stadium. Their first showdown occurred in Week 14 of the 2018 season, wherein the Chiefs won in overtime. A year later, Kansas City edged Baltimore in a Week 3 clash.
However, while the Chiefs will enjoy home-field advantage during the 2024 kickoff game, they will play without wide receiver Marquise Brown. The free-agent acquisition is nursing a shoulder injury, but the Chiefs didn’t place him on injured reserve. Therefore, he could return to action before Week 4.
