The Pittsburgh Steelers maintained their unblemished record by defeating the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season. Beating the Chargers was no easy feat, as they have won their first two assignments this year. However, the Steelers were efficient on both sides of the ball to score their third victory in as many games.
Pittsburgh’s defense limited the Chargers to ten points, including one touchdown. Meanwhile, they’ve limited running back J.K. Dobbins to 44 rushing yards after tallying 266 in his first two games.
The Steelers' defense is on a historic run to start the season. They have allowed ten points or less in their first three games for the first time in fifty years. What’s more impressive is that they’ve limited opponents to 8.6 points per game. The Steelers wouldn’t have shut down their foes without their nine sacks (three from T.J. Watt), 16 tackles for losses, and four interceptions.

On the other hand, the Steelers' offense generated two touchdowns courtesy of a six-yard Justin Fields touchdown run and a 55-yard scoring pass from Fields to Calvin Austin. After taking over from the injured Russell Wilson, Fields is making the most of his opportunities, completing 73.3 percent of his throws and earning a 95.3 passer rating through Week 3. He has 518 passing yards, 90 rushing yards, and three touchdowns during the first three games.
Fields, Watt, and the Steelers can improve to 4-0 with a road victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, September 29, at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.
