The Athletic’s senior NFL insider, Dianna Russini, reported that the New York Jets have allowed edge rusher Haason Reddick to seek a trade with other teams. This decision came after the All-Pro outside linebacker declined to show up for the Jets even if New York’s AFC squad traded for him in the offseason.
The Jets traded for Reddick even if there’s only one year left with the contract he signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. With contract extension talks going nowhere, Reddick requested a trade that his team didn’t grant.
As the 2024 NFL season progressed, the cards were stacked against the two-time Pro Bowler. Drew Rosenhaus, his new agent after Creative Artists Agency dropped him, tried fielding interest from NFL teams. However, there’s no definite declaration from teams willing to acquire Reddick.
Beyond the drama, teams interested in acquiring the pass rusher from Temple will be getting a player with double-digit sacks in each of the last four seasons. That stretch includes his career-high 16 sacks in 2022, his first season with the Eagles.

But if Reddick stays signed with the Jets, he must pay fines of around $8 million dollars. Worst yet, he lost nearly $4.2 million in base salaries for skipping Weeks 1 to 6. That $12.2 million total nearly eats up the $14.25 million he’s scheduled to make this season.
In addition to Reddick, Russini also revealed that the Jets are making wideout Mike Williams available for trade. With Davante Adams joining via a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders, the Jets have no other option but to create a roster spot from their stacked wide receiver rotation.
