Jared Goff Has Been Lights Out

It was a heavyweight showdown between the NFC North leaders, the Detroit Lions and the Minnesota Vikings. While Minnesota landed some haymakers, Detroit emerged victorious, and they couldn’t have done it without quarterback Jared Goff.

In addition to handing the Vikings their first loss of the 2024 NFL season, Goff was sensational for the 5-1 Lions. The former Cal standout completed 22 passes out of 25 attempts for 280 passing yards and two touchdowns.

However, Goff’s stellar performance isn’t a one-off because he has been stellar to start the season. As ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter pointed out, he has more touchdown passes (18) than incompletions (15) in the Lions’ last four games.

Meanwhile, Pro Football Focus noted that in the last ten quarters he played, Goff has 48 completions out of 55 tries for 763 passing yards, seven touchdowns, and zero interceptions. In his first six games, the former number-one draft pick has a 73.6 completion percentage (128 of 174) for 1,610 yards, ten touchdowns, and four interceptions.

Likewise, he hasn’t thrown a pick in their last three games, which were all victories. His accuracy and composure in the pocket helped the Lions maintain a four-game winning streak, during which they’ve beaten opponents by an average of 15 points.

After winning the first of six NFC North divisional games this year, the Lions will host the reeling Tennessee Titans in Week 7. If Goff continues to be on fire, the Titans have no chance against Detroit.
