BIGRICHIE Wins Blackout

Richard Loppnow from Ephrata, WA and his team BIGRICHIE win Week 7 of the Blackout with 203.85 points.

Richard put together the top score with remarkable consistency, starting just two players who finished outside the Top 10, but only netting two of the available top scores. This was a tough week for Blackout managers. The BIGRICHIE’s 203.85 points was the lowest winning score of the season, trailing the season average by 30.37 points. Thanks to everyone for participating in Week 7 of the Blackout. To celebrate no bye weeks in Week 8, the Top 3 players at each position will be eligible! Week 9 be a No Mercy player pool. All the best and most popular players will be blacked out.

Week 8 of the Blackout is live

This week turned into a slog without much separation among the Top 5. Josh Allen(QB3) appeared on all of the Top 5 rosters. With Drake London(WR4) and DK Metcalf(WR3) appearing on all 5 top rosters, BIGRICHIE only had one spot to differentiate himself, and he mashed it. While the other top finishers ran afoul of stinkers from Jayden Reed(WR33), Malik Nabers(WR21) and Devonta Smith(WR46) Richard selected Amari Cooper(WR7) beating the other guys’ average WR score by 12.88 points and bringing home the win in Week 7. Last week’s “No Mercy” theme resulted in 9 top scoring players being blacked out. This week I used normal scoring and blacked out the same number of players as usual. A staggering 12 top scoring players were ineligible. With that many top scores taken off the table it was a scrabble for points and while many managers did well, not a single person picked the QB1, Russell Wilson or the RB1, Rachaad White. The RB2, Javonte Williams, the WR1 and WR2, George Pickens and Rashod Bateman, as well as the TE2, Jonnu Smith and the DST2, Seattle Seahawks, were selected by under 2% of managers. Usually when the Blackout does well, the field struggles and Week 7 was no exception. Only one player from the top scoring roster also appears on the most selected roster, down from five last week. Although there were plenty of points to be had and some managers came through admirably, the most popular roster put up just 172.65 points, the lowest total since Week 3. That’s still good for a solid 61% of the available points. Take a look at the most selected roster:

Another week, another Top 100 finish for the overall leader GREGH987. His 172.95 points was good for 77th place in Week 7, his second worst finish of the season. It was not enough to diminish his lead which climbed another 6.15 to 55.90 points. Looking at the rest of the Top 5, BUCXPRESS in 3rd place with 1370.15 might be the biggest threat to GREGH987. The rest of the guys at the top of the leaderboard have a mix of spike games and modest finishes. BUCEXPRESS has finished in the Top 100 in 6 out of 7 weeks. He has 3 Top 50 finishes including 8th this week. Perhaps with his consistent grasp of the game, BUCEXPRESS can land another top finish and emerge as a legitimate challenger in Week 8.
