As the 2024 NFL season progresses, it’s evident that the Washington Commanders struck paydirt on quarterback Jayden Daniels. Through 13 games, he has completed 69.6 percent of his throws (252 of 362) for 2,819 yards and 15 touchdowns. The rookie from LSU added 590 rushing yards and six touchdowns.
In addition to leading the Commanders to an 8-5 record, Daniels has established more NFL records in his rookie season. As the Commanders’ official account on X/Twitter pointed out, Daniels is the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for two touchdowns and rush for another score in back-to-back games.
The second overall pick in the 2024 draft is also the first player to have a completion percentage of at least 80 percent, throw three touchdowns, and rush for another TD in a single game. Daniels pulled off this accomplishment against the Tennessee Titans in Week 13, finishing with an 83.3 completion rate for 206 passing yards and three TDs, with 34 rushing yards and a rushing score.
Daniels is also the first NFL quarterback to have at least three games with an 80 percent completion percentage. In addition to the Titans game, he completed 91.3 percent of his throws in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals. A week later, Daniels had an 86.7 completion rate versus the Arizona Cardinals.
