Veteran defensive tackle Calais Campbell signed with the Miami Dolphins this offseason, hoping to fulfill his desire to win a Super Bowl before he retires. However, with Miami’s fate resting on other team’s outcomes, Campbell might not meet his championship aspirations if he remains with the Dolphins.
Therefore, the Dolphins could release Campbell after they are officially out of postseason contention. That way, he could sign with a contender and keep his title hopes alive. At 38, the defensive lineman from the University of Miami doesn’t have much time left in his NFL career. Hence, he has limited chances of lifting the Vince Lombardi Trophy.
This would be nice: The #Dolphins could potentially release Calais Campbell once they are eliminated from the playoffs to give him the chance of joining a contender, per @flasportsbuzz

However, while Campbell is among the league’s oldest players, he’s still a reliable contributor. This season, he has 43 tackles, nine quarterback hits, five passes defended, and four sacks. Due to his talent and his leadership, any team with a path to the Super Bowl could benefit from having him.
The Dolphins are Campbell’s fifth NFL team. The Arizona Cardinals selected him in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft, and he stayed with the squad for nine seasons. After his stint with Arizona, Campbell suited up for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, and Atlanta Falcons before signing with Miami.
Campbell has had three All-Pro and six Pro Bowl selections throughout his career. He’s also a member of the 2010s All-Decade Team and won the 2019 Walter Payton Man of the Year award.
