The Houston Texans have announced the firing of offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik. The 37-year-old coach joined the team when DeMeco Ryans took over the Texans last season. His departure came after the Houston Texans lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional Round, mirroring their exit during the 2023 season.
Slowik became a top head coaching prospect after helping quarterback C.J. Stroud become the 2023 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. Stroud’s emergence led to a10-7 record and a playoff victory in the Wild Card Round against the Cleveland Browns. However, he stayed in Houston for another season and the Texans finished with an identical win-loss record despite losing Nico Collins, Tank Dell, and Stefon Diggs to injuries.

However, after dominating the Los Angeles Chargers in the Wild Card Round, the Texans generated only 14 points against the Chiefs. Sadly, the loss could tarnish Slowik’s resume as he searches for his next job.
Before joining the Texans, Slowik filled various coaching roles for the San Francisco 49ers franchise from 2017 to 2022. That’s where he worked with Ryans, who eventually worked as Niners defensive coordinator for two seasons. Slowik started his coaching career as a defensive assistant for the then-Washington Redskins from 2011 to 2013.
