Eric Allen, Jared Allen, Sterling Sharpe, Antonio Gates Voted to Pro Football Hall of Fame

Four former players will enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025. Their names were announced during the NFL Honors in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Cornerback Eric Allen, who played 14 seasons in the NFL, is one of the inductees. He had three All-Pro selections early in his career, all with the Philadelphia Eagles. He also has six Pro Bowl selections and 54 career interceptions. Allen finished his career with 787 tackles, 54 interceptions, eight interception touchdowns, six forced fumbles, seven fumble recoveries, and three sacks. Allen also played for the New Orleans Saints and Oakland Raiders before retiring after the 2001 season.

Meanwhile, defensive end Jared Allen played for four NFL teams in 12 seasons. He was a four-time First-Team All-Pro selectee and a two-time NFL sacks leader. Allen also has five Pro Bowl selections and holds the league record for most career safeties with four. He played with the Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Carolina Panthers. Allen finished his career with 648 tackles, 136 sacks, 32 forced fumbles, 19 fumble recoveries, and six interceptions.

Sterling Sharpe will also enter the Pro Football Hall of Fame more than three decades after his final NFL game. While a neck injury cut his career short, he was a dominant wideout for the Green Bay Packers. Shannon Sharpe’s older brother was a three-time First-Team All-Pro member and five-time Pro Bowler for the Green Bay Packers. He also finished as high as fourth place in the Associated Press MVP voting in 1992, wherein he had 1,461 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Finally, Antonio Gates completes the Class of 2025. Despite being undrafted in 2003 and having a predominantly basketball background, he became a five-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowl member. Gates played his entire 16-season career with the San Diego/Los Angeles Chargers, finishing with 955 receptions for 11,841 yards and 116 touchdowns (most among tight ends).
