Super Bowl LIX Has More Average Viewers Than Previous Editions

As written by Yahoo Sports senior writer Jay Busbee, Super Bowl LIX still pulled in a massive audience despite the beatdown displayed by the Philadelphia Eagles against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Busbee quotes Fox Sports’ initial projected viewership of 127.7 million across Fox, Fox Deportes, Tubi, Telemundo, and the league’s digital broadcasting platforms. That number is three percent higher than Super Bowl LVIII’s average viewership and is the new ceiling for the NFL’s annual spectacle.

Viewership reached its peak of 137.7 million around the second quarter when the game was still up for grabs. However, the Eagles scored 34 unanswered points that virtually put the game away from the Chiefs’ reach.

Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show pulled in an average of 133.5 million viewers. It’s also the most-watched halftime show in Super Bowl history and is a three-percent increase from Usher’s show last year.

Finally, the NFL’s streaming services reached an average viewership of 14.5 million, a positive step towards the league’s transition into the said platforms.
