The Denver Broncos added another weapon to their offense by signing tight end Evan Engram to a two-year contract. Multiple reports confirmed that Engram signed a $23 million contract with $16.5 million in guaranteed money. The Broncos won the bidding war for the two-time Pro Bowler against their division rivals, the Los Angeles Chargers.
Engram last played for the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, the team released him as a salary cap casualty two years after he signed a three-year, $41.25 million contract. The former Ole Miss standout will now play for his third NFL team after starting his career with the New York Giants.
Engram will be joining a team that made a breakthrough last season by reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2015. The Broncos are adding valuable pieces around second-year quarterback Bo Nix and Engram could boost production from the tight end position.
Meanwhile, Engram will wear the number one jersey, making him the first TE to wear that number since 1973.
