Dynasty Mock Draft Rounds 12-14

The first mock of the series is complete! A run down of the final rounds of the dynasty mock draft!

We have finally arrived at the end of the draft! Truthfully, a real dynasty draft would have several more rounds but we had to keep this reasonable. The driving theme of this draft was “wait on qb”, much to the chagrin of myself and other early QB drafters. As many QBs were drafted in the final three rounds as in the first twelve! Here is the final draft board :

Ian had just four WRs heading into the final rounds and I was expecting him to bolster the position, especially with one of the four at 32 years old, but that’s not what happened. At the 12/13 turn Ian selected back to back QBs. Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy. About those last picks Ian said “The thinking was that I’d watch Murray and McCarthy for a few weeks of the regular season, then make a decision to maybe trade one of those QBs. They both look too promising to pass up in the 13th round.” He’s certainly right about that he may end up being right about his skinny WR group. Ian’s receivers are projected to score the most points per WR, 265.81 and that’s still true vs the other teams’ top 4 WRs. He also smashed the rankings value. With the exception of Davante Adams every player was drafted after their positional ranking, a total of +78 vs the Fantasy Index dynasty rankings. This roster also has the most projected points in the draft and should be considered a favorite in 2025.

Bryce finally took his TE in the 13th round, Dallas Goedert. On a per game basis Goedert has performed no worse than TE12 over the last three seasons. He’s also missed 8, 3 and 5 games in those seasons. At age 30 Goedert should have some years left around TE10-12 but with injuries becoming a regular occurrence he may not be the best late round target in dynasty, certainly not as the only TE on the roster. Taking Jared Goff in the final round provides solid “Stroud Insurance”, Goff is also just 30 years old. Bryce did end up with the 4th highest projected score and the 5th youngest roster, so he’s got a good balance for dynasty. He has the 3rd highest per RB projected points though his WRs are projected for just the 8th most points.

Falchion took another hard turn in the final rounds selecting three TEs, Travis Kelce, Noah Gray and Mike Gesicki. Kelce looked slow and ineffective last season but reports out of camp have him slimmed down. Backing him with Gray is a good play in dynasty, hopefully. Gray has cared out a role for himself in the offense but it’s far from clear that he has the same instinctive rapport with Mahomes should Kelce miss time. Gesicki is a Bengals pass catcher, so the appeal is obvious but after finishing TE19 in 17 games last season, I’m not sure I’m buying. Falchion plays dynasty the way Europeans built cathedrals in the middle ages, it’s a generational process. He has strong views on prospets and he gets his guys no matter what. The picks on this roster added up to staggering 332 total spots before ADP and 117 spots after positional rankings. It has the lowest projected point total, trailing the leader by over 900 points in 2025 but that’s inconsequential to this build. This team’s dynasty window opens in 2028.

Lou really rocked this draft. He’s 2nd in 2025 projected points, has the most points per RB and though it’s the 7th oldest team, Joe Mixon and A.J. Brown are his only position players over 27, the rest of the age is at TE and QB where it’s less problematic. He also cashed in on the glut of late round QBs taking Baker Mayfield in the 12th and Justin Herbert in the 13th. In the final round he selected Quentin Johnston who had some promising stats in 2024, 8 touchdowns on 55 receptions and a 32% redzone target rate but also 7 drops. Second round pick Tre Harris is projected for a similar role to Johnston so the chances for a year three breakout are not looking great.

I used my final pick to address my prior grouching about Jayden Higgins and took the player he is destined to supplant, Christian Kirk. I also drafted Rhamondre Stevenson as my RB5. Though he’s likely to be part of a two headed monster with rookie TreVeyon Henderson, Stevensons size and versatile skill set can keep him relevant. In the 13th I took Rashod Bateman who had a bit of a breakout as Lamar’s deep threat last season. He’s the type of player who’s never going to be consistent but a career-high 72 targets and 9 touchdowns can’t be dismissed. This isn’t the kind of roster I like to build but with the 2nd lowest average age and the 8th most projected points it has great dynasty potential. I’m happy with a lot of the values, total of +56 vs the Fantasy Index dynasty rankings, the 3rd best rankings value.

Jessel had a situation that caused him to be unable to complete the mock, resulting in a team that has no QB and the final picks being auto-drafted. It’s unfortunate since he had such a strong team going but a whole lot of things are more important than a mock draft , and Jessel is absolutely one of the good ones. The Christian McCaffrey / Derrick Henry stack in 4th and 5th will long be remembered as a devastating bit of drafting and the WRs and TEs on the roster are great. He ended up with the oldest roster and 2nd lowest total projected points, but if you remove QBs from the equation he had the most projected points with a margin of 241. In the end this easily would have been a roster nobody wants to face had things gone differently.

Gibbsy finished up the draft taking Cam Ward in the 12th, this was before the news of Will Levis’s season ending surgery, so it’s aged quite well. In the 13th he took Jaydon Blue. The Cowboys rookie is competing for snaps with Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. Although Blue has been working in the dreaded kick returner role at OTAs he’s widely expected to be in the mix in the backfield, or as Gibby hilariously puts it, “Despite Luke posting comments from some idiot local podcast in Dallas, the rest of my sources are high on Blue being that Jamyr Gibbs-type weapon. Decent late round value.” His final selection was Braelon Allen who serves as the handcuff to his 2nd round pick, Breece Hall. Smart pick.

Breece put together perhaps the most interesting roster in this draft. He has the youngest team at just 23.31 years and while he’s 10th in the projected point total, he was 3rd after round 8 before getting into some speculative deep picks. D.J. Giddens in the 12th was certainly speculative. I had to dig a bit to figure out that this was 38 spots before his ADP. There’s always a chance that Giddens finds his way to fantasy relevance behind Jonathan Taylor but it’s a long shot. In the 13th Breece went with Michael Penix and finished off with another rookie WR, Chiefs 3rd rounder Jalen Royals. Looking toward the future for this squad Breece told me “In the 2026 draft I would be looking to pick up several receivers, as I think my QB and RB spots are more than good enough for now. A few more years to build experience and establish themselves in starting roles, I think this team could be headed in a good direction, by the 2027 draft it would be looking pretty scary.”

Alex put together the 3rd youngest team in this draft and finished with a respectable 7th most projected points. His RBs are the soft spot though. He has just three on the roster and one of those is a back up, Jordan Mason. Rather than hunting for RB depth in these final rounds Alex was excited to get Kyle Pitts behind in Njoku pick in round eight. I understand the impulse to double dip at TE this late but I don’t share the excitement for Pitts. In the 13th he picked up a young WR prospect, Texans rookie Jaylin Noel and in the final round he round incredible value getting Brock Purdy with the 14.04. That’s eight spots after his QB ranking and 36 spots after his ADP!

Andy Richardson took the favorite to lead the Dallas backfield in the 12th, Javonte Williams. Williams finds himself on a one-year prove-it contract in Dallas. The Cowboys are determined to run the ball after delivering just the 23rd most rush attempts last season. Andy finished up with Trevor Lawrence and Bronco’s 3rd rounder WR Pat Bryant. This roster ended up with the 3rd most projected points for 2025 and is fairly young with an average age of 25.29. I asked Andy about his draft and I have to agree that Kyren Williams was the key pick here: “What does this guy have to do to get some respect? He’s had back-to-back big seasons and he’s 24 years old. He should not be available at 4.03.” I considered taking him in the 2nd and was shocked to see him fall through the 3rd.

I asked Luke Wilson how he felt about his draft and he told me, “The receivers don't have the 'new hotness' appeal, but Jerry Jeudy as my WR4 in a full PPR format feels pretty sturdy. Obviously, the recent developments with Quinshon Judkins tainted my running backs pretty badly.” It’s true that this roster will rise or fall with the outcome of Judkins legal trouble. So far the news isn’t good, Judkins has not reported to camp and he is the only 2nd rounder who has not been signed. Jeudy should be looking at plenty of volume for a WR4 but the bigger question is whether the Browns can stay out of their own way. Of course Luke has little need for a WR in his flex after drafting Evan Engram in the 12th. Jordan Love in the 13th will serve as the QB2 behind Bo Nix and Jordan James would be a huge help if he can work his way up Kyle Shanahan’s depth chart, wouldn’t be the first unheralded RB to do it.

Tabby started this stretch with Tyjae Spears who should be a good depth piece even though Tabby has a pretty solid RB group. In the 13th he went with Justin Fields as his QB2. If Fields stays healthy and is able to run the ball it will be hard keeping him out of the Top 10 despite his troubles as a passer. Mason Taylor is one of the more interesting TE prospects in this year’s draft class. He’s bringing early 2nd round draft capital to a camp battle with two guys who have one NFL TD between them in six total seasons. It dosen’t hurt at all that the Jets just signed Mason to a rookie contract with over 90% of the money guaranteed. If he wins the job he could end up a good stack with Fields who targeted Cole Kmet an average of 84 times over their last three years together in Chicago, yielding 13 touchdowns.

Thank you for following along with our first mock draft. I hope you’ve found some good values and chewed on some interesting stats. The drafters mostly had a good time, and it was great to draft with Ian and Andy. Their experience and composure was impossible to miss as they handily built the best teams around us. Our next mock is already underway and we have spots available in the live auction mock scheduled for July 31st, so let me know in the comments if you’d like to participate.
