Sunday morning injury updates

Rapoport says McCaffrey should play

It's the first Sunday of the NFL season, with most games kicking off in a couple of hours. A few last-minute notes that have been reported around the league.

  • Ian Rapoport says that Christian McCaffrey was a big part of the 49ers' team walkthrough on Saturday, a sign he's trending to go. Rapoport is not my favorite NFL news guy. He seems like a decent enough sort, I just think he's either been used by teams to get across angles they want out there strategically, accuracy be damned, or he occasionally makes too much of a leap from what the actual news is (and turns out to be wrong). But I'll concede that he has access to info like team walkthroughs that most do not, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here. Sounds like McCaffrey will be active this week, and if you took the risk of using your first-round pick on him, may as well go ahead and start him if so.

  • Kyler Murray showed up on the injury report with an illness. Sounds like it won't affect his presence in the game, just something to keep in mind. If I was planning to start Murray anywhere, I still would.

  • A report about Xavier Worthy has him having suffered a dislocated shoulder on Friday night. (Thanks, Mr. Swift.) He's going to miss time, no one is saying how much. I'll hazard a guess of 4-6 weeks, but I'm just guessing. Apparently he could play with a brace, but as a wide receiver, he's going to take hits. Nobody should be dropping Worthy at this point, but I'd plan to be without him for some time. Marquise Brown, mediocre though I believe him to be, should be the No. 1 until a healthy Worthy or unsuspended Rashee Rice is available.

  • Micah Parsons (back) is expected to play, but with limited snaps, for Green Bay.

  • Quinshon Judkins, under contract now, may play in Week 2 for Cleveland. May; he could also be suspended before then for the off-field issue that delayed his contract signing until now. If you have Jerome Ford, though, this is the week to start him, facing the Bengals and not having to potentially lose work to Cleveland's second-round rookie.

Sort of a slow news day, as you might expect with the teams not having actually played any games yet. If I see anything else of note before the early kickoffs, I'll post in the comments below.
