Steven Wik from Lancaster, NY and his team, THE SHEIKS, start the 2025 season with a 194.80 point victory.
Week 2 of the Blackout is live now!!
For the opening week only players from 2024 division winners were blacked out, leaving a wide-open field with lots of scoring and lots of pitfalls. Steven managed a hardy 75% of the available points. He selected three players from the perfect roster including Deebo Samuel, who appeared on just 2% of rosters and finished as the top eligible receiver with 22.60 points. Here’s the first winning roster of 2025:

The Blackout came down hard on wide receivers this week with the top four options coming from 2024 division winners. That included a breakout performance from rookie Emeka Egbuka who caught 2 touchdowns on his way to 23.60 fantasy points. The top three eligible receivers proved elusive, appearing on an average of just 2% of rosters. Here’s this week’s perfect roster:

The crowd may have had trouble finding the top eligible receivers, but you all had no problem finding the top scoring eligible running backs. Bijan Robinson and Christian McCaffrey led the way appearing on 50% and 25% of rosters respectively. Brock Bowers paid off for the 44% of managers who selected him, but the top tight end Juwan Johnson made a mere 0.19% of entries. Quarterback was also elusive with neither of the top options, Justin Fields and Daniel Jones cracking 1% of entries. Here is the most popular roster from Week 1:

Thank you for participating in Week 1 of the Fantasy Index Blackout. We had an incredible turnout this year with over a thousand rosters submitted! Don’t get discouraged if you’re off to a rough start, this is a game of runs and early season deficits do not mean much. The most important thing you can do to get back in the hunt is to participate every week! Don’t expect it to be always be easy either! I’ll have a few more Bonanzas scatted throughout the year, but Week 2 is a pretty standard pool and some of the themed challenges cut closer to the bone than this. Let me know in the comments if you have any ideas for weekly challenges.
