Ask the Experts

Who would you most like to see traded?

Njoku, Breece among the favorites

ASK THE EXPERTS appears weekly from training camp through the Super Bowl with answers to a new question being posted Thursday morning. How the guest experts responded when we asked them: Which player would you most like to see traded in the coming weeks?

SAM HENDRICKS

David Njoku to the L.A. Chargers. He is losing ground to the rookie Harold Fannin Jr. and deserves a QB who can get him the ball. Fannin has the rookie QB's eye so Njoku appears to be the odd man out. By the same token, Justin Herbert needs a safety valve with a punch. It would be a win-win trade in my opinion. Of course Njoku's knee hyperextension may get in the way of all this or give him a rest before the trade happens. I also would love to see Jakobi Meyers escape the Las Vegas Raiders for the Patriots and Josh McDaniel's Meyers friendly environment. Meyers flourished whenever McDaniels was around.

Hendricks is the author of Fantasy Football Guidebook, Fantasy Football Tips and Fantasy Football Basics, all available at ExtraPointPress.com, at all major bookstores, and at Amazon and BN.com. He is a 30-year fantasy football veteran who participated in the National Fantasy Football Championship (NFFC) and finished 7th and 16th overall in the 2008 and 2009 Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC). He won the Fantasy Index Open in 2013 and 2018.

TOM KESSENICH

The most obvious answers are likely going to be Breece Hall and Alvin Kamara but I don't think either are going to be traded. So I'm going to go a bit under the radar with someone who isn't necessarily a "big name" but a player I think needs to be traded and would help a potential playoff team considerably and that's Tony Pollard. He's wasting away in Tennessee and I think he'd make for a great fit with the Chargers who could use him with Omarion Hampton's ankle injury now reportedly much worse than initially reported. Even after Hampton returns the two of them would make a formidable 1-2 punch for the stretch run. But in the meantime, Pollard would escape the Titans' hellscape and provide LA with a needed upgrade at RB and also give his fantasy managers some needed help at the beleaguered RB position.

KEN HOLIZNA

I would love to see WR Chris Olave get traded to the New England Patriots. The Patriots have the cap space and draft capital to make a move to keep this Cinderella season going. After going 4-13 in 2024, the Patriots are 4-2 with an impressive win over the Bills who have had a stranglehold on the AFC East for years now. Olave's contract would be franchise-friendly for at least another year since the Saints picked up his 5-year option. I don't think it is too early for the Patriots to go in now for a strong playoff run. Drake Maye has been a pleasant surprise in his second season, even without a stick mover and TD maker, besides an aging Stefon Diggs. Maye to Olave would be a good combination for years to come (barring concussions). An offense that can move the ball and sustain drives with first downs hides many defensive insufficiencies. The Patriots if they get Olave need to get him one of those goofy helmets like the Packers WRs who look like the Great Gazoo on the Flintstones. I am also wondering if RBs Kamara, Hall and DE Hendrickson get dealt to contending teams. With all the injuries and disappointments so far this season it should be an active trade deadline.

HOWARD BENDER

If the N.Y. Jets are just going to waste Breece Hall's talents and let him walk at the end of the season, then trade him to Kansas City. The Chiefs are in clear need of an every-down back who fits the mold of what Andy Reid likes to do with his running backs, much like Jamaal Charles. Hall can power-run between the tackles and he is both versatile enough and fast enough to handle third-down pass-catching duties. If he can't shine like the bright star that he is with my team, then let him go somewhere he will thrive and possibly even win a Super Bowl.

Isaac Guerendo doesn't seem to fit into San Francisco's plans. He hasn't been on the field for a single offensive play. They traded for Brian Robinson (who's their current backup) and they drafted Jordan James. Guerendo is nearing the halfway point of his rookie contract. If there's interest from a team with a need (Chargers? Commanders? Bears?) I would like to see him moved.

I would love to see RB Alvin Kamara be traded to the Chargers. He would instantly become a solid RB2 with RB1 upside in any given week.

JASON WOOD

As an Eagles fan, my answer isn't really something I'd like to see, but it's the biggest name I actually see moving at the deadline. A.J. Brown is being misused, and while he's publicly trying to downplay his frustration, it stands to reason GM Howie Roseman sees the writing on the wall. For a competitive team with looming cap issues and younger players who need big extensions (e.g., Jalen Carter), moving Brown now to a team desperate for an alpha receiver makes too much sense not to happen. There are quite a few teams who could use Brown's talents, but Bills would be an absolute dream landing spot.

SCOTT SACHS

Browns offense has severely regressed and their season is on the brink. TE David Njoku has been underutilized, plus is looking for a new deal. However, with the emergence of rookie Harold Fannin, it looks like a foregone conclusion that "The Chief" will be on the move. Targeted contending teams could include the Jags, Chargers, or Rams. Non-contenders might include the Raiders or Giants. With the injury to Gesicki, a reunion with Flacco in Cincinnati makes sense.

SCOTT PIANOWSKI

It would be nice if Buffalo could add an impact receiver. Maybe Chris Olave would make sense. Even Jakobi Myers might help them. And I wish we could go back in time and trade Jameis Winston to the Bengals. Obviously that's not happening now. If Baltimore loses another game soon, is there any way we could reunite Derrick Henry with Mike Vrabel in New England? Surely a lot of wishcasting here, but it's a fun exercise.

ANDY RICHARDSON

I would love to get Breece Hall away from the Jets. He clearly won't be returning to them a year from now, and there are contending teams starting really poor options at running back. Kansas City is the obvious landing spot, but not the only one. Pittsburgh could badly use a running back upgrade, neither Warren nor Gainwell is a legit No. 1. One good week out of Kimani Vidal doesn't convince me the Chargers don't need someone else. Even the Texans, I think, would make sense, as it becomes more apparent that Mixon isn't playing this year. A Hall trade somewhere should absolutely happen.
