The Jets got a win today, but I don’t know how much longer they can stick with Justin Fields. He just doesn’t seem to have it as a passer.
Granted, they were playing against a good Cleveland defense, but how does any pro quarterback make it through a game in 2025 with only 54 passing yards?
And Fields, remarkably, has had three other games that were pretty similar. He completed only 3 of 11 for 27 yards before getting pulled against the Bills. He threw for only 45 yards in London (that was the game where they let the clock run out at the end of the first half, rather than even giving him the chance to try to move the team a few yards into field goal position). And Fields passed for only 46 yards in the loss against Carolina.
Only eight times this season has a quarterback started a game and finished with fewer than 100 yards. Fields has half of those games – the only four games with fewer than 60 passing yards.

You don’t see numbers this limited often. In the 32-team era, only seven other quarterbacks have finished with at least four games with fewer than 100 passing yards in the same season. Only one has made it up to five games (Mark Brunell), and Fields has another half season to join him – unless the Jets pivot to Tyrod Taylor.
