Question
Notre Dame will have the first running back drafted, Jeremiyah Love, but also might have the second – Jadarian Price. On this front, who are the only two running backs in the Super Bowl era who weren’t the first running back drafted off their college team but had multiple seasons with over 1,700 combined yards?
Answer
Lydell Mitchell did this three times for the Colts in the ‘70s; he was a second-round pick, after the Steelers took Franco Harris in ‘70s. And Nick Chubb was picked after Sony Michel in 2018, having two such seasons for the Browns. Three others have made it over 1,700 once, including Dalton Hilliard (Saints, 1989), Edgar Bennett (Packers, 1995) and Neal Anderson (Bears, 1989). Hilliard and Bennett were picked after Gary James and Amp Lee were second-round picks. Anderson was a first-round pick out of Florida, but the Seahawks selected John L. Williams even earlier.
