Vikings sign Jauan Jennings

New No. 3 has been good scorer

The Vikings signed Jauan Jennings yesterday, removing one of the former or soon to be former 49ers wideouts from the market. Deebo Samuel is still out there, Brandon Aiyuk in limbo. Jennings will receive "up to" $13 million.

Minnesota lost Jalen Nailor in free agency, so they had a need for a No. 3 wideout behind Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. Jennings should be that, and he might also take a few touchdowns away from that duo.

That's one area he was productive for San Francisco the last two years. He caught 15 touchdowns, and he's replacing a guy who caught more those years than you'd expected (Nailor caught 10 TDs).

Over the last two years, Jennings' 15 touchdowns (plus a 2-point conversion, which we consider a third of a touchdown in our accounting) in 30 games worked out .51 touchdowns per game. That was a top-12 scoring rate at the position (table shows all wide receivers to average at least a third of a touchdown per game the last two years).

Jefferson and Addison also make the table, impressive considering the level of quarterbacking they had to deal with a year ago. They'll hope to be better this year, probably with Kyler Murray at quarterback. But they'll be competing with Jennings for those chances.
