Ryan Broyles tore his ACL as a rookie, a year after returning from a torn ACL in college. That led to a belief he'd start out this year on the PUP list, but based on the recent minicamp, that may have been too pessimistic an outlook.
Broyles is practicing fully now, and doesn't expect to even open training camp on the PUP list. Given his ability -- he caught an NCAA-record 349 passes in his career at Oklahoma -- he could even push to start ahead of Nate Burleson this season.
Can Broyles' knees hold up? It's fair to wonder; certainly there's plenty of risk with a guy coming off not one but two torn ACLs the last two years. Still, as last-round picks go in summer fantasy drafts, you could do worse.
If Broyles is healthy, it'll be a big boost to the Lions offense, and a nice value where he'll be selected in most leagues.
