Hakeem Nicks wasn't present at the Giants' voluntary workouts this spring, leading to speculation he was unhappy about his contract. According to him, though, he was primarily worried about his health.
In an interview with the New York Post, Nicks said he wanted to rest his foot. "Anytime you can let your body rest is good," he said, and that's why he wasn't present as workouts.
Nicks is, however, in the final year of his contract, and that could also be a factor in his absence. In the interview, he said only that he enjoys being a Giant "right now."
Plenty of talent and plenty of injury concerns, so assuming he is a free agent next year, he could be a hot commodity on the free agent market -- or a guy with more risk than reward. In any case, he'll be plenty motivated to put up big numbers in 2013.
