Index readers startup dynasty draft

A couple of months back I posted a link to an experts startup dynasty draft I was participating in. That led to some discussion of strategy here, and prompted Index reader Moishe Steigmann to start a league himself. He gathered together 10 owners, some of whom had posted on that discussion thread, and formed a league.

Not surprisingly, one of the differences that immediately jumps out comes at quarterback. Experts, for whatever reason, hold off on drafting them, evidently feeling there is enough depth that you can wait on a starter -- even in a dynasty format. The top two picks in Moishe's draft were Aaron Rodgers and Andrew Luck, and Cam Newton also went in the first round. In the experts draft, Rodgers was the first QB taken -- at 2.12. Huge difference.

This reader draft is still going on; as I write this it's into the 18th round (out of 27). Anyone planning on forming a startup dynasty league -- and you should, they're awesome -- can get a good idea as to where players might be selected, based on this draft.

My column on the experts draft I participated in back in May is right here.

Moishe's Index readers draft, still ongoing, can be seen at this link. Both feature PPR scoring; you can find additional details about the leagues at the home pages.
