Josh Gordon will miss the Browns' first two games due to a suspension for violating the league's drug policy. Inside linebacker D'Qwell Jackson didn't mince words in a recent interview, saying the talented wideout "doesn't have that many lives left."
Jackson's interview with the Cleveland Plain Dealer can be seen right here. “If he wants to last in this league and be successful and productive and have his word mean anything to anyone over his career I think right now would be the time to straighten those things out . . . He’s young and he’s going to have to learn quick in this business.”
Gordon is loaded with talent and looks like a perfect fit for the Browns' new Norv Turner-led offense, which likes to get the ball into the hands of receivers downfield. But the 22-year-old might be one more misstep from a season-long ban.
Gordon tested positive for marijuana three times in college, a history that casts doubt on his claim that this recent failed test was due to cough syrup medication (although the fact that the suspension is only two games might support it). In any case, he's not going to help the Browns, or fantasy owners, unless he can avoid those mistakes going forward.
