It's looking like Ryan Mathews has already had, and lost, his chance to be featured in San Diego. Danny Woodhead has arrived to take on the passing downs role, and maybe play even more than that.
This article in the San Diego Union-Tribune says the Chargers are "more than hinting at a switch to a multi-back system." There's Mathews, Woodhead, and even Ronnie Brown, and all three should play.
Durability, of course, has been the biggest issue for Mathews. He's missed 10 games in three seasons due to a variety of injuries. Maybe that history has led the team to be less willing to count on him in a featured role.
Unless it becomes clear he'll get the bulk of the workload, it's tough to get excited about selecting Mathews in a fantasy league.
