Andre Brown / broken leg

David Wilson's value skyrockets

Andre Brown was going to handle all of the goal-line rushing for the Giants, but he suffered a broken leg in tonight's preseason game at New England. That dramatically increases the value of David Wilson.

Why was Brown even in this game? That's a damn good question. He got injured late in the second quarter. Most NFL teams play their starters only a series in the final preseason game (if at all). As a heavily-used No. 2, it was a surprise he was even on the field.

This greatly enhances the value of Wilson, who has played really well in the preseason anyway, averaging over 7 yards per carry. Now he projects to be used more at the goal line, as well as catching a few more passes and getting more rushing attempts.

Without thinking too much about scoring systems, Wilson looks like a player who should be selected in the top 20 overall in fantasy drafts now.

The Giants don't have much else at running back. In their preseason games, Ryan Torain has been next man up. But he's not a Brown-type talent who'll be mixed in for 30-40 percent of the carries. He's been struggling to try to get on rosters the last few years. DaRel Scott is their other option right now.

New York could try to sign a running back released by another team. The Steelers might cut a back -- Isaac Redman, Jonathan Dwyer or Felix Jones. And there are a few veterans out there: Beanie Wells, Willis McGahee and Michael Turner.
