This league is gonna be Super

Week 1 lineup plays it safe

Once again this year, we're doing our free Fantasy Index Subscriber Super League competition. Each week you pick your best lineup of 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs. I did OK in this thing last year -- probably could have won, but you know, I want other people to have fun -- and am back for another season.

You can enter at this link. You'll be competing against Fantasy Index staffers and your fellow readers, and you can win prizes, both weekly and overall. All the details are at the above link.

But enough yapping. Here's the team I'll send out for Week 1.

Quarterbacks: Tom Brady and Drew Brees. I don't see the need to get overly cute this week. Both of these guys will post huge numbers against defenses they routinely tear up. I considered Michael Vick and Andrew Luck, but this duo should work just fine.

Running Backs: Alfred Morris and David Wilson. Morris should run all over Philly's sorry defense. Wilson should play full-time against Dallas' soft group. I considered Doug Martin against the Jets, but these guys should suffice.

Wide Receivers: Calvin Johnson, Julio Jones, Dez Bryant. Nothing fancy here. Johnson is Johnson. Jones is an elite talent against one of the sorriest defenses in the league. Bryant is too much for a short-handed Giants secondary. I considered Reggie Wayne.

Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham and Jason Witten. Graham should be huge in this game. Truth be told, the only week I'll bench Graham is on his bye. Witten gets the nod at No. 2 over Vernon Davis.

Kickers: Stephen Gostkowski and Adam Vinatieri. It ain't rocket science; capable kickers playing on teams that should score a lot of points and win.

I'll see you back here each week. Good luck!
