One more good week, and I'll be into double-digits. Cracking the top 100 doesn't deserve a medal or anything (looks like that Murillo guy is actually winning the thing!), but considering I was sitting around 300 2-3 weeks in, it's something.
I have mixed feelings about this week. On the one hand, I see some great choices. On the other hand, several of them are facing me in a league where I'm the top seed with a playoff matchup this week. Unfortunate, but that's fantasy football.
In this competition you pick your best lineup of 2 QBs, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 2 TEs, and 2 PKs. You can enter at this link. You're competing against Fantasy Index staffers and your fellow readers, and you can win prizes, both weekly and overall.) Here's the Week 12 lineup.
Quarterbacks: Peyton Manning and Drew Brees. I also considered Tom Brady and Matthew Stafford. No reason to mess around at quarterback. When I forget to submit my lineup before Brees' game tomorrow night, it will probably be Stafford.
Running Backs: Frank Gore and Ben Tate. San Francisco should lean heavily on the running game in Washington, while the Texans should do the same against Jaguars. I realize Jacksonville has played the run better the last two weeks.
Wide Receivers: Calvin Johnson, Andre Johnson, Brandon Marshall. Nothing special here. Clear top targets facing bad pass defenses. Calvin gets Darrelle Revis, which doesn't concern me enough to switch off him. Jordy Nelson also makes sense.
Tight Ends: Jimmy Graham and Rob Gronkowski. Coby Fleener is another guy I'll consider with a great matchup.
Kickers: Robbie Gould and Garrett Hartley. I may switch off Hartley because extra points should be more common than field goals, but the numbers are strong.
Good luck to the rest of you.
