Fantasy Index not - repeat, NOT! - affected by Heartbleed bug

Internet SSL vulnerability does not (and never did) affect FantasyIndex.com

You have doubtless heard about the "Heartbleed" problem -- a recently-discovered vulnerability in the code of OpenSSL software used by many websites. This vulnerability did not (and does not) affect FantasyIndex.com.

The Heartbleed problem does not affect the version of OpenSSL that Fantasy Index uses. We have been using an older version and had not updated to the version of OpenSSL that has the security problem.

To be clear, the Heartbleed bug is a very serious Internet security problem and experts advise you to avoid online banking and sensitive sites for the time being.

This Los Angeles Times article paints a scary picture of the current security landscape.

Ultimately, all reputable sites will install the OpenSSL patch and the problem will go away. Once the coast is clear, it will be wise to change literally all of your passwords. And experts remind you that you should keep a different password for every site you use, whether for e-mail, banking, fantasy football, whatever.

Again, the Heartbleed bug did NOT affect Fantasy Index.
