Early impact for Philly receivers?

The Eagles cut DeSean Jackson loose in the offseason, so there's a need to fill the void left by their leading receiver. Jeremy Maclin will return from injury, but the opportunity remains for other wideouts to make an early impact.

A pair of rookies will be in the mix to contribute right away. The Eagles selected Vanderbilt's Jordan Matthews in round 2, and Oregon's Josh Huff in round 3.

At 6-foot-3, Matthews presents a big target who the Eagles say they'll try in the slot initially. He dominated in college -- and is a cousin of Jerry Rice! -- and has been a first-round pick in rookie drafts I've seen this week.

Huff is a smaller, faster receiver, and a big-play guy who scored 12 TDs a year ago. He had some issues with drops and might be more of a situational guy. In Philly's offense, though, he could be pretty productive if he picks it up quickly. Which he should, since Chip Kelly coached him at Oregon before leaving for the Eagles job. That history lends some added appeal to the rookie.

Maclin and Riley Cooper may be the top 2 guys in Philly, but it won't be surprising if one or both of these rookies make an impact right away.
