I joined an experts dynasty league last year. I'm a big fan of dynasty leagues, and I thought a second one, against experts rather than friends and co-workers, would be a nice challenge. I did OK in the regular season (8-5) but got bounced in the playoffs, enabling me to pick 5th in this year's rookie draft.
That draft is a slow draft which began last night. Thus far we're creeping along; my pick at 1.05 was the last one made. I selected Carlos Hyde, who I think will be starting in San Francisco in 2015 and has a nice, feature back future. Bishop Sankey went with the 2nd pick; there was some internal Fantasy Index debate over whether Sankey or Hyde should be the top rookie runner (long-term; we know Sankey will likely be much better in 2014).
I suspect Ian Allan, had he been in charge of my team, would have selected Brandin Cooks. I like Hyde and am willing to miss out on Cooks. My roster, which is considerably better off at receiver than running back, is a slight factor, although not the only one.
You can check out the draft at this link; like I said, there's not much happening at the moment. I'll post another update in a day or two when we've got a few more picks under our belt.
If you go to the link you'll note I pick again at 2.01 thanks to an offseason trade; feel free to suggest your nominations for who I should take.
The draft so far is presented below, with my pick in bold.
1.01 Sammy Watkins
1.02 Bishop Sankey
1.03 Mike Evans
1.04 Odell Beckham
1.05 Carlos Hyde
