So I've been participating in this rookie draft for my Experts Dynasty League. There were a couple of lulls early on, with people presumably remembering that there was an annual selection process for the incoming rookies and whatnot, but it seems to be moving along now.
I finished in the middle of the league last year (solid 8-5 regular season, but got bounced in the first round of the 8-team playoffs), and select 5th in each round. I picked up a couple of extra picks through trades, shipping off players who in my eyes have little or no dynasty value -- Jonathan Stewart, for example.
I drafted Carlos Hyde at 1.05. I need a running back, and think Hyde will likely be the starter in 2015. My next pick was at 2.01, and I was hoping that Atlanta's Devonta Freeman or Cleveland's Terrance West would make it to me. No such luck, so I instead went with St. Louis' Tre Mason. He should be the No. 2 in St. Louis this season, maybe moving past Zac Stacy at some point.
At 2.05, I hoped one of three wide receivers would make it to me: Cody Latimer, Marqise Lee or Donte Moncrief. Latimer is gone, but I'm two picks away and one of those guys will be there for me. Both could ultimately be their team's No. 1 wideout.
The draft so far is presented below. I'll also pick at 2.11, where I may be looking at a tight end or, depending on who is there, another wide receiver.
Note, incidentally, that no quarterbacks have yet been selected. Not a lot of dynasty interest so far in Bortles, Manziel or Bridgewater.
