Another Rodgers in Green Bay?

One of the potentially valuable receivers in Green Bay this season will be their starting tight end, but good luck trying to figure out who that player will be. It could still be Jermichael Finley, unsigned and coming off injury, but probably likelier to return to the Packers than anyone else. And then there are several other possibilities.

Returning veterans included Andrew Quarless and Brandon Bostick, and then there are a pair of rookies -- third-rounder Richard Rodgers, and undrafted Colt Lyerla. According to ESPN's Rob Demovsky, Rodgers may have the inside track. "His size and athleticism stood out during the offseason practices."

What happens in practices without hitting doesn't necessarily mean a ton, but the Packers did spend a high pick on Rodgers, so clearly they like him. And there's little reason to think Quarless or Bostick gets any kind of veteran edge. Quarless has been sitting out practices with some sort of injury.

Rodgers is more receiver than blocker, but that's just fine for fantasy purposes; the same is true of Finley. Those in dynasty formats will want to monitor this situation going forward, but don't rule out Rodgers giving Green Bay a second player with that surname of value this season.
